Rooted in the Midwest. Raised on something simple.

Midwest Kind Co. started with a question we heard over and over again while living abroad for the past 16 years: “Where are you from?”

Our answer was always the same... Wisconsin.

But what stood out wasn’t just where we were from. It was what people associated with it. Time and time again, we were described the same way: kind, honest, hardworking. Those weren’t just compliments; they were values we grew up with, shaped by life in the Midwest.

One moment stuck with us. A recruiter we worked with once said she preferred hiring people from the Midwest because of their work ethic and character. That stayed with us.

Midwest Kind Co. was built to reflect exactly that.

Why We Do This

We create minimalist, Midwest-inspired apparel that represents a way of life... one rooted in humility, kindness, and showing up for others.

The truth is, a lot of what we make starts with a simple thought: “Would we wear this?”

Many of our designs come from our own lives, whether it’s everyday Midwest pride or niche collections like our artistic swimming line (because when you can’t find it, you make it).

We’re not trying to follow trends. We’re creating pieces that feel honest, wearable, and meaningful.

What We Believe

At our core, Midwest Kind Co. is about more than just t-shirts.

It’s about:

  • Being kind, even when it’s not the easiest option
  • Working hard, without needing recognition
  • Staying humble, no matter where life takes you
  • Creating things that feel real and lasting, not disposable

We believe clothing can say something quietly but clearly.

Our Team, Our Family

Midwest Kind Co. is a family-run business in every sense.

We’re Heather and Luke, the founders and the ones handling the day-to-day. From designing and sourcing to packing orders and building the brand, we’re involved in every step.

But it doesn’t stop there.

Our kids are a big part of this, too. They help brainstorm design ideas, choose colors, give honest opinions (sometimes very honest), and even pitch in at events.

This brand is built around our life, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Looking ahead

As we return home to the United States after years abroad, Midwest Kind Co. feels even more personal.

It’s a way to stay connected to where we came from, and to share those Midwest values with others who feel the same pull toward something simple, steady, and good.
